Aerowatt, a French independent wind power developer, owner and operator, has been busy securing turbines for its forthcoming projects in mainland France and its overseas territories. The first deal was for 31 turbines totalling 8.5 MW from Vergnet, a maker of mainly small wind turbines for off-grid application in cyclone regions, to be delivered to Réunion and New Caledonia this year. These are in addition to 4 MW under construction in New Caledonia and a further 16 MW on option with Vergnet for 2008 and 2009. Aerowatt also recently inked a deal with Enercon for nine units representing 20 MW, slated for projects in the Aude and Ille-et-Vilaine départements of mainland France. Aerowatt currently operates 53 MW of wind power generation worldwide, with over 350 MW under development.
