Mitsubishi reaches turbines sales milestone

Powered by the recent sale of 170, 1 MW turbines across two projects to customers in the United States, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) says its total wind turbine sales have passed 2000 units. The two US deals are to supply 120 turbines to the San Juan Mesa Wind Energy Project in New Mexico and 50 machines to MidAmerican Energy Company in Iowa. MHI has also installed Japan's largest turbine, a 2.4 MW machine, for testing at a site in Yokohama, west of Tokyo. The turbine is 70 metres tall, while its blades have a diameter of 92 metres.
