TXU appeals negative Welsh decision on new project

TXU Europe Power is to appeal against Pembrokeshire County Council's rejection of its application to build three wind turbines at Rhoscrowther in south Wales. Peter Crone from Farm Energy, a development partner in the project, is confident the appeal will succeed. Although the site is close to a national park boundary, it is within half a mile of both the huge Texaco oil refinery, where the tallest stack is 169 metres compared with the 75 metre height of the proposed turbines, and Pembrokeshire power station. "In terms of landscape, the area is hardly unspoilt," he says. Despite the planning officer's recommendation for approval, councillors refused the project by 17 votes to 2. The appeal will be conducted through written representations.
