Spanish utility Endesa has ordered its first batch of turbines from Gamesa under last year's EUR 430 million framework deal between the two countries for delivery of 500 MW of Gamesa turbines to Endesa by the end of 2010. Economies of scale from the deal mean the 190 MW order, with a price tag of just over EUR 175 million, is comfortably below EUR 1 million per installed megawatt, a commonly accepted market reference price. As well as supplying, installing and powering up all the capacity ordered, Gamesa is also committed to providing operation and maintenance services on the turbines for the first two years. Gamesa will supply 91, 2 MW turbines plus a further nine 850 MW machines. They will go up in five projects across the country. When the three-year framework deal is complete, Gamesa will have supplied Endesa with turbines totalling 1400 MW, including previous sales outside the current agreement.
