MONTE PERDON PROJECT IN NAVARRA

Gamesa Eolica, the Joint Venture owned 40% by Vestas of Denmark, 51% by Grupo Gamesa of Spain and 9% by the regional government of Navarra, will probably have finished its Monte Perdon project in Navarra in the north by early next year. So far three V39-500 turbines have been put up and a further seven are expected in the ground shortly, bringing the total installed to 5 MW. The V39 500 units are the biggest commercial machines operating in Spain at the moment, although they will soon be outmatched by the V42/G42 (the G is for Gamesa) to go up at the joint venture's triple wind farm project in La Muela in Aragon in northeastern Spain. This project is pending final permission. Regarding Navarra's macro project to generate the majority of the region's electricity needs from alternative sources, most of it from wind power, Gamesa Eolica says the plan is well underway and will go ahead as planned despite a recent change of regional government.
