Prospects are bright. It is increasingly accepted that global warming is a real threat -- even by the United States. The US Environmental Protection Agency acknowledged that human activity contributes to global warming and warming will have severe impacts in the US. Nonetheless, the EPA still saw fit to suggest that air pollution rules governing the country's dirtiest power plants be relaxed to allow the industry to (cheaply) expand its coal generation. The biggest single factor holding wind back still seems to be ignorance and prejudice within governments.
