Serbian-Canadian company Notos has confirmed plans to invest over EUR 20 million in the construction of a 20 MW wind farm project in the municipality of Belo Blato near Zrenjanin in the province of Vojvodina. Comprising Vestas 850 kW turbines, it is due to be completed within the next four years. The proposed wind farm already has preliminary authorisation from the provincial government and the local authorities, while grid connection and electricity purchase agreements with state-owned power company Elektroprivreda Srbije are due to be signed soon. The first turbine could be operational by the end of the year, says Notos president, Miodrag Andric. The project, he says, is a long term investment with a profit not expected before the fifth year. "We are also counting on the so-called green certificates," he says, referring to potential income from sale of green power credits.
