EnXco projects considered in Minnesota

Minnesota's Environmental Quality Board is considering approval of several small EnXco projects next to each other in southwest Minnesota's Buffalo Hills, but all contained in one application. EnXco's Paul White says the developer has "nailed down" only about 30 MW of the 87 MW identified by the permit application, but he anticipates having power purchase agreements signed and the projects completed by the end of 2003. The 21 MW Stoneray project for Great River Energy (Windpower Monthly, May 2001) and one small project are ready to go, he says, but several others are still being negotiated. The development will spread 58, 1.5 MW GE Wind Energy or NEG Micon turbines across 18,900 acres. EnXco is already building the 85.5 MW Chanarambie wind farm in the same area (Windpower Monthly, January 2002).
