They say things are bigger in Texas and this year's wind industry trade show was no exception. As many as 776 exhibitors filled the quarter-mile long exhibition hall at Houston's George R Brown Convention Center, up a whopping 84% over the 420 companies in 2007, itself a record year. Some individual exhibitors also took the opportunity to go big. Acciona Energy from Spain brought along its new 3 MW turbine, while home-grown Clipper Windpower displayed its 2.5 MW Liberty machine. One of the biggest exhibits, a set of Vestas blades atop a Lone Star Transportation flatbed truck, did not even make it inside, remaining parked on the street alongside the conference centre for the duration.
