Correction on use of DEWI wind data for under performing wind stations
1 April 2002
Correction: No wind measurements were carried out by the Deutsches Wind Energie Institut (DEWI) for three under-performing wind stations near Bremerhaven, as reported in Windpower Monthly, March 2002. DEWI made wind resource calculations from meteorological long term data provided by the German Weather Service (DWD), as is common practise in Germany. DEWI points out that it has long stressed that site wind measurements, though more costly, produce more accurate energy yield forecasts than data gathered from nearby ten metre masts at DWD stations. We regret the error.
