Hawaii retrofit with Lagerwey turbines
1 May 1999
An 11 year old wind farm in Hawaii of 37 Mitshubishi 250 kW turbines is to be refitted with turbines from Lagerwey of the Netherlands. The company has been commissioned to supply 39 of its LW 20/250 model in an upgrade which is set to boost the average production per turbine from 350,000 kWh to 850,000 kWh a year. The refit will involve extending most of the existing towers by ten metres to raise hub height from 25 metres to 35 metres. Two new towers will also be built. Lagerwey expects the refit to be complete by the fall.
