The final report of the Concerted Action on Offshore Wind Energy in Europe (CA-OWEE), paid for by the European Commission, was published late last year. "Offshore wind energy: Ready to power a sustainable Europe" was co-ordinated by Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. It is authored by a group of 17 research organisations, consultants, utilities and developers across Europe. The report is meant to be a resource for anyone new to the offshore wind sector, covering everything from technology to grid integration, environment, conflicts of interest and planning, social aspects, market development, economics and finance. Delft University's Andrew Henderson says another good resource of information are the broad offshore and coastal engineering sectors. "They are also looking at things like breaking waves and installation techniques, and they also have conferences and seminars," he notes.
