Finish authorities lack interest in wind energy

A one day seminar on The Establishment of Wind Power in Nordic Countries, organised by the Finnish Windpower Association in Helsinki on April 16, attracted some 60 participants. The slow pace of development and the Finnish authorities' lack of interest in wind power were demonstrated at the seminar. Finland's 100 MW plan, proposed in March last year, has still not been discussed by government and the scheduled speaker from the Ministry of Trade failed to turn up at the event. Finnish industry interested in manufacturing wind turbines was advised to form a co-operation agreement with an existing wind company abroad. Several Nordic countries are already involved in the business of supplying components to Danish wind turbine manufacturers. Generators from ABB Motor of Vasa in Finland are mounted in 35% of all Danish turbines.
