Airtricity and Fluor join up

Scottish and Southern Energy subsidiary Airtricity has announced its joint venture with Fluor Limited, British offshoot of Fluor Corporation, to bid for wind farm sites in the third round of UK offshore development. The consortium, known as Seagreen Wind Energy Limited, builds on the partners' previous collaborations. Together they developed the 500 MW Greater Gabbard wind project off Suffolk, which gained a licence in the second round of site consents and is in construction. More recently, the pair won a site licence for the 700 MW Bell Rock wind project in February's Scottish licensing round. The Seagreen consortium is Airtricity's second Round 3 venture: it is also part of the Forewind consortium alongside RWE Innogy, Statkraft and StatoilHydro.
