Green pricing is becoming more popular -- and Public Service of Colorado (PSC) is the latest to indicate interest. PSC will approach state regulators this month with a proposed 60 day marketing campaign for green pricing. If approved, this would determine the size of a new renewable project. The utility will also submit a solicitation plan to the Public Utilities Commission, the utility's Jeff Ackermann said at Windpower '96. Surveys indicate that customers prefer wind over solar, although they do not mind if the wind plant is within Colorado or not. His comments were met with great scepticism, as PSC terminated its interest in the planned Kenetech Wyoming project some time ago because of bird concerns. Some even speculated that the utility could defraud customers, who would not know if their electrons were really "'green."
