Wind monitoring by utility

Black Hills Power & Light, an investor-owned utility in Rapid City, South Dakota, has included about $50,000 in its budget this year for wind monitoring in Wyoming and South Dakota. Winds will be measured at two sites in Wyoming and at least threesites in South Dakota, says the utility's Don Martinez. Data will be gathered for a minimum of a year. The Wyoming Public Service Commission is asking the utility to probe its renewable energy sources, including wind, says Martinez.
