Tokyo Gas Co installs wind power plant to gain expertise

Japan's largest gas company, Tokyo Gas Co, plans to construct a 1.5-2 MW wind power generation facility at its plant in Sodegaura, Chiba Prefecture. The electricity will be sold to the nearest utility, it says. The turbine supplier is yet to be selected. The development will be the country's first wind power project by a city gas company. Tokyo Gas says it does not have any immediate plans for other wind projects, but does intend to accumulate expertise in the sector and is considering the possibility of developing further projects in the future with other companies.
