Scottish voters reject European Parliament anti-wind candidate

Google Translate

Scottish voters have soundly rejected a political party standing for election to the European parliament solely on the ticket of opposing wind energy. Scottish Wind Watch polled a mere 0.6% of the vote in Scotland, from 7255 votes -- the lowest showing for a political party and with just one independent candidate polling fewer votes. Wind Watch claims to have issued one million leaflets to the Scottish electorate. Scots refused to be scared into voting for the single-issue party, says Maf Smith of the Scottish Renewables Forum. "Scottish Wind Watch is entitled to its opinions about wind power, but after this dismal showing it can no longer pretend that its views are representative of the people of Scotland," he says.
