RWE Energie and Tacke Windtechnik are on course for their installation of a 1.5 MW turbine optimised for low wind areas. The machine is to go in the ground at Wede near Osnabruck by the end of the year. In a joint research and development project, the utility and Tacke will spend about a year fine tuning the machine before putting it on the market. The machine will have a hub height of 90 metres, 12 metres higher than the first 1.5 MW Tacke prototypes.
