Nacelle factory in Matane, Quebec, to double capacity
1 July 2006
A factory in Matane, Quebec, established to supply locally produced nacelle shells to projects selected under Hydro-Quebec's first 1000 MW wind power order, will more than double its capacity next year. Composites VCI is to produce an additional 250 shells in 2007 for GE Energy on top of the 150 it will produce for the company's projects in Quebec. The company plans to invest C$500,000 in modifying the factory to handle the increased production and create an additional 30 jobs, bringing the plant's workforce to 78.
