Two 33M-VS wind turbines have reaped 400,000 kWh

Niagara Mohawk Corp's two 33M-VS wind turbines from Kenetech Windpower have reaped 400,000 kWh of electricity during their first year of operation, according to the Syracuse-based company. The variable speed machines, installed in November 1992, are on a 20 acre site in the town of Denmark in northern New York state. "We are generally pleased with the first year of turbine operation," says Edward Neuhauser, the utility's wind power project manager. The research project, sponsored by Kenetech Windpower, Pacific Gas & Electric Co and the Electric Power Research Institute, is slated to continue through April 1995.
