Luoto District Council is busy raising equity for a 16 MW, EUR 17.5 million wind station after Finland's administrative court threw out local objections to the project in a ruling made public on March 22. The project is to consist of eight 2 MW wind turbines. The council originally announced plans for the small wind station in 2003, but these were delayed when local communities announced their opposition to its construction. Equity is expected to come from municipal and private sources. The municipality hopes to begin talks with potential turbine suppliers during the second half of 2005, with the prospect of commissioning the wind station already this year.
