Wind company GET of Rendsburg expects to install a prototype 1.2 MW unit, developed by Autoflug, a company it recently acquired, near the Brunsbüttel nuclear power station in August. The site is owned by Hamburg electric utility HEW. The turbine will be operated by Uthlander Windpark, a company in which federal member of parliament for Nord Friesland, Peter-Harry Carstensen, holds a share. A small series of five to six 1.2 MW machines will follow at the end of this year or the beginning of next, after which the two bladed machine will be developed further and acquire a third blade. Shipbuilding and engineering company HDW Nobiskrug, part of the giant Preussag Group, builds, installs and maintains the GET turbines. GET expects to sell some 20 of the 600 kW GET 41 machine and ten of its 225 kW GET-Danwin 27 this year.
