First megawatt turbine installed at Szapar

Hungary's first megawatt size wind turbine -- a 1.8 MW Vestas machine -- has been installed at Szapar in the Bakon Hills. The customer, E.on Hungaria, is a subsidiary of German energy giant E.on. It already operates three Enercon 600 kW machines in the country, the first installed back in May 2001 at Kulcs, 59 kilometres south of Budapest, and the other two in December 2003, at Mosonszolnok, near the border to Austria.
