Asset development company Mistral Energy and its ownership arm Mistral Wind Farms have commissioned their first wind power plant in France. The 36 MW installation at Beauce, 60 kilometres southwest of Paris, was developed by Volkswind France before Mistral Energy, based in the UK, bought the project in October 2005 for over EUR 50 million. Work started mid-November last year and was completed, under budget and ahead of schedule, in August. Vestas supplied the 18, V80 2 MW turbines and will provide maintenance jointly with Wind Farm Management Ltd. The turbines are divided into three groups of 12 MW to comply with the French government's 12 MW cap for projects to secure guaranteed premium purchase prices.
