The year has started a little slowly with the addition of about 350 MW to the world's total, mostly in Europe, the rest in Asia. But the wind pipeline holds a considerable number of projects. The indications are that 1997 will again see over 1000 MW installed. Even the German market seems to be holding steady, despite political turmoil. The medium term outlook is boosted by the prospect of a series of large projects in America's Midwest (though the US market is still far from healthy) and the opening up of lines of credit to both India and China.
