Green pricing and marketing is the focus for the second time at an upcoming workshop organised by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Market driven utility services are expected to rise substantially in numbers because of their popularity, says EPRI. The event, May 13-14 in Corpus Christi, Texas, is co-sponsored by the US Department of Energy, Edison Electric Institute and is hosted by utility Central and Southwest Services Inc. The workshop will provide an update on green pricing programmes -- under which customers are allowed to select "green" electricity from renewable sources at a premium price -- and on retail wheeling, on lessons learned so far, and on green power certification and disclosure. A second EPRI workshop from October 22-24 in Baltimore will focus on electricity from distributed sources -- such as "gen sets" and renewables -- in a competitive market. This conference, hosted by Baltimore Gas & Electric, is open to non-EPRI member organisations.
