Green power developer Dale Vince given OBE in New Year's Honours

Green power supplier and wind energy developer Dale Vince was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in Britain's New Year's Honours list. Vince was nominated for the medal, awarded by the Queen, for services to the environment and to the electricity industry. A long time environmental campaigner, he founded the world's first green electricity company in 1995 -- later named Ecotricity. It now supplies major customers like The Body Shop and Co-operative Bank and a growing nationwide domestic market. "Changing the way electricity is made has been our single focus for the last ten years," says Vince. "To me, this award is a powerful endorsement of green electricity, our work and of everybody at Ecotricity, both past and present."
