Pfleiderer benefits from tower sales.

Increased demand for wind turbine towers in both steel and concrete helped to boost profits at Pfleiderer Bau und Vekehrsysteme of Neumarkt, says the company. It adds that the new business more than compensated for the downturn in construction of radio masts. Turnover increased from DEM 535 million in 1994/95 to DEM 580 million in 1995/96, while the operating result increased by 20% to DEM 30 million. Pfleiderer expanded its wind turbine tower business in 1995 when it took over the east German CAL Apparatebau of Leipzig which employs around 230 people.
