In the first quarter of the year, Germany installed 350 MW of wind power, almost identical to the 353.5 MW installed in the first three months of 2003. By the end of March, the national installed wind power capacity had reached 14,960 MW provided by 15,600 turbines, reports the Bundesverband Windenergie, the federal wind power association. In a year of average winds, the almost 15,000 MW would generate 29.1 TWh, enough power to meet 6.2% of national electricity demand.
