Exports pick up

Fifty-seven German turbines, 25.6 MW, were exported in the first three months of the year, reports the Bundesverband Windenergie (BWE). Portugal and India each took 20 machines, amounting to 10 MW and 7 MW respectively. Austria imported nine turbines (5.1 MW), Spain three turbines (1.5 MW), Turkey three (1.5 MW) and Japan two turbines (0.5 MW). The BWE draws attention to the lack of a wind energy export program in Germany, saying Denmark has one, and urges more support from the federal and Länder governments for offshore projects "to help Germany keep step with ambitious offshore plans in Denmark and Holland."
