Third party sale of electricity from wind turbines has been banned by the Andhra Pradesh Energy Regulatory Commission. The commission has reportedly claimed that wind energy developers were "cherry picking" customers and competing unfairly with APTransco, the successor to Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (SEB). From December 1, all power must be sold exclusively to APTransco. Developers in the state maintain that the unilateral ban on third-party sale runs contrary to the power purchase and power wheeling arrangements agreed between wind power station developers and Andhra Pradesh SEB. The 20 year agreements allowed direct sale of electricity from wind farms to third party customers.
