Training centre to open for wind plant management and maintenance
1 April 2001
Spanish developer Gamesa Energía and its affiliate, Gamesa Services, are behind what they claim to be Europe's first training centre for specialists in wind plant management and maintenance. The unit will be situated in Gijón, Asturias. According to Gamesa's Alex Otaegui, the centre is the result of an agreement the company signed with Gijón town hall and the Asturias business federation, FADE. Gijón will grant municipal funding of EUR 787,000 -- about 65% of the total investment in the centre -- in return for an employment guarantee from Gamesa to 60% of the centre's students upon finishing the course.
