Renewables will soon be cost competitive says Worldwatch Institute

Dynamic growth rates are driving down the cost of wind power as they spur rapid technological advances. In the US, renewables will soon be fully cost competitive with fossil fuels, states the Worldwatch Institute in a new report last month together with the Center for American Progress. All but four US states have incentives in place to promote renewable energy, says the report, while more than a dozen states have enacted new renewable energy laws in the past five years. Four states strengthened existing renewables targets in 2005. Global wind energy generation has more than tripled since 2000.
