Micon turbine hit by lightning

Good Friday was also an unlucky day for wind power in Holland. In the aftermath of a storm, a Micon turbine sited alongside one of the busy feeder roads to Schiphol Airport was hit by lightning and severely damaged. Aware of the high profile of the site and the fact that thousands saw the wind turbine each day, the owners of the machine, the Meerwind co-operative, had the blades and nacelle replaced within a fortnight.
