Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) has ordered ten further 1.3 MW turbines from German-Danish wind turbine manufacturer Nordex in a deal worth ´2 billion. IHI is Nordex's agent in Japan. The turbines are for the second phase of the 26 MW Minani Osumi wind farm in Sato-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan. Owned by Minami Kyushu Wind Power Corp, a subsidiary of Marubeni Corp, the wind farm will become operational in March 2004. Last year, Nordex supplied ten 1.3 MW turbines for the first phase of the project at the neighbouring Nejime-cho site; these turbines will become operational next month. The electricity generated will be sold to local utility Kyushu Electric Power. Total investment is estimated to be around ´2.5 billion.
