An order for 20, 1 MW wind turbines for a power station at Tomamae in northern Hokkaido has been placed by trading and energy company Tomen Corp with Denmark's Bonus A/S. The project will double the country's installed wind capacity. Project costs are estimated at JPY 4.5 million and it is to begin operation in October. It is the first large wind project in Japan and the first Japanese order for Bonus. The market has previously been dominated by Danish NEG Micon and Japan's Mitsubishi.
