New wind equipment factory opens in Chongqing municipality

A wind power equipment manufacturing facility with a forecast annual output of 2000 MW and sales of CNY 30 billion ($3.9 billion) has been inaugurated in Chongqing municipality in southwest China. The main shareholder in the CNY 5 billion ($660.7 million) investment is Chongqing Haizhuang Company (CHC), a fully owned subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, one of two shipbuilding conglomerates in China. The project is kicking off with development of a 1000 MW first phase, with the full plant due for completion within three to five years. CHC says it will invite overseas companies to design the 2 MW turbines to be produced at the facility.
