Ian Mays from British company Renewable Energy Services is the new president of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). During his three year presidency Mays -- the previous chairman of the British Wind Energy Association -- hopes to strengthen the lobbying position of EWEA. The association is aiming to raise the profile of wind energy in the European Commission. "We want to foster the market for wind energy in Europe and help the EC meet its objectives for a percentage of its energy requirements from renewables," he says. "We also hope to be able to make our mark to improve the prospects for exports from Europe."
