Palm Springs wind farm stars

The wind farms in Palm Springs have almost become as popular as a Hollywood back lot because of interest in global warming. Dozens of newspapers and TV stations have done articles or segments at the Wintec wind farm, where $20-a-head tours are held four times daily at this time of the year, when it is cool enough. Japanese and French TV networks have taped at the Wintec site, according to a local business newspaper. Even a British children's programme, "Roland Rat & Friends," has shot a windmill-related episode in Palm Springs. The public tours, operated by EV Adventures, were started a year ago (Windpower Monthly, June 1997).
