Swiss get national lobby group

Swiss wind energy now has a lobby organisation named Suisse Eole to help push the industry's cause. The lack of an association has long been decried. "Wind activities were neither structured nor organised and contacts were either bilateral or happened by chance," says Robert Horbaty from the group that set up Suisse Eole. The only co-ordinated wind activities that took place, he adds, were initiated by the Federal Energy Office. Switzerland has 13 wind turbines with a combined capacity of nearly 2.15 MW, generating around 2 GWh a year.
