Wind gets bite at federal budget for emissions reduction

A request for proposals for greenhouse emissions reductions from renewable energy has been issued by the federal government under its Pilot Emissions Removals, Reductions and Learnings (PERRL) initiative. Bids are due in this month. The government has allocated C$2.5 million for the purchases, which will be made on a fixed price per tonne basis. The government is using PERRL to learn more about emissions reduction in strategic areas like renewable energy sources, carbon sequestration and biological sinks, experience that will be used in the development of future policies.
