The first Global Windpower Conference lived up to its name, attracting 4250 people from 51 countries over the event's four days. "It was a global event, finally," said conference co-chair Arthouros Zervos. "That was the goal and I think it was a success." There were 1105 delegates registered for the conference, while the trade show had 595 registered exhibition staff, representing 107 companies and 13 industry associations from around the world. The French, not surprisingly considering the Paris venue, had the largest contingent of participants: 361. The next largest group, totalling 254, came from the United Kingdom, followed by Denmark with 232, Germany with 171 and the United States with 118. Another 2550 people visited the exhibition, including 1200 delegates registered for the fourth annual meeting of the French Syndicate for Renewable Energies (SER) conference, which was held in parallel to the global conference at the same venue on April 4. Throughout the global event's four days, 100 papers were presented, chosen from 400 abstracts submitted to conference organisers. Another 150 presenters were invited to participate in the poster session.
