Fourth license to build megawatt unit

Südwind Borsig Energy of Berlin, part of the Borsig Energy Group and sister company to turbine manufacturer Nordex, has added a 1.5 MW model to its portfolio of wind turbines. The S-70 and its 70 metre rotor "puts Südwind into the first league of turbine manufacturers," the company claims. Südwind is the fourth company to acquire a licence to build the variable speed model from Pro+ Pro Energiesysteme of Rendsburg. The model is already being built by Jacobs Energie, which recently acquired the wind turbine activities of Husumer Schiffswerft, Fuhrländer of Waigandshain, and BWU, based in Brandenburg. Südwind will service the turbines made by all three companies.
