Shell Renewables India Limited (SRIL) will spend a major portion of its $2.1 million budget for 2000 on a solar energy campaign, "Sunergy 2000," launched by the Shell Foundation of the UK. Workshops and conferences are planned for 16 locations in India -- some of them in rural areas. SRIL will use the money on market related activities and a network of solar centres in India, according to SRIL's Arvind Vijh. The focus will be on solar lighting systems and water pumps for rural households, he adds.
