Liberalisation debate latest

Talks on liberalising Germany's electricity market continue. Currently it looks as though the future market will encompass the two systems allowed under the European Union's Electricity Directive: Single Buyer and Negotiated Third Party Access. But Max Dietrich Kley, chairman of the powerful electricity industry lobby group Verband der Industriellen Energie und Kraftwirtschaft (VIK), is promoting the concept of a power trading exchange, similar to that about to be introduced in the Netherlands and being discussed in Austria.
