Registered in Madurai one year ago, a newcomer to the wind scene in India, Pioneer Wincon, expects to receive certification for its wind turbine by October. The company has already signed up local manufacturers for generators, cables and the tower and is now working on indigenising hubs and computer panels. Since its parent company, the Pioneer Asia Group, has an established steel business in Sri Lanka, a marketing campaign is to be launched there for Pioneer Wincon turbines. Pioneer Asia has in the past dealt in chemicals and synthetics.
