Six months after Spain's Labour party achieved its surprise election victory, the positive influence of a pro-renewables government is increasingly being felt. At long last the restrictions on wind power's growth in the name of grid stability are being lifted, with talk of a new national target of 20,000 MW.
Barriers to grid connection of wind stations in the huge southern region of Andalucia have prevented realisation of projects for nearly a decade. Now they are coming down. Concessions are being granted for development of nearly 3000 MW of wind power over the next two years.
