Floodgates open for Commonwealth Energy

Commonwealth Energy now has more than 70,000 customers, including 61 municipal entities -- fire districts, cities, water districts and school districts -- in the San Diego area signed up for its GreenSmart 100% renewables electricity. "When Santa Monica announced that it had chosen Commonwealth, the floodgates opened," says Commonwealth's Fred Bloom. For September, Commonwealth had scheduled more than 70,000 MWh of renewables, enough power for some 120,000 homes. "We are providing green power to approximately 400 new customers every day," adds Bloom.
