Low wind Micon 600 kW in Vienna

Danish turbine manufacturer Micon has installed a 600 kW unit in Austria, the first of the model to have been erected in the country. The turbine went into operation at Gerasdorf, a suburb of Vienna, early last month and will feed power into the grid of the local utility, Wienstrom. The M1800-unit has a 48 metre diameter rotor and was chosen as being the most suitable machine for the inland site. Its operator company, Windstrom Gerasdorf Windkraft Errichtungs-und Betreiber, received a government grant of ATS 3.024 million. The total investment was ATS 10.08 million
